Road Work: Route 385

Hello Neighbors,

The New York State Department of Transportation has begun work on the repaving of Route 385. The first step is to redo the corners of each sidewalk that intersects with the roadway to ensure proper ADA compliance. The state’s design crew was out last summer to examine the corners and assess.

Repaving 385 is something our community has been asking for and village leadership has been working towards for years. This project has been discussed at several village board meetings. We have gone through the steps, passed the required resolutions and maintained a level of cautious optimism that we would see the project come to fruition and now it is upon us. To say this work is necessary is a huge understatement. But there will be inconveniences, particularly for those who live and work on Washington St.

We have been informed that this portion of the work will last approximately three weeks and then resuracing will begin.

There may be other work undertaken in the course of preparing for resurfacing. We will do our best to keep you informed. However, this is not a village project. This is a DOT project, utilizing an outside contractor. We do not always get timely information.

Apologies for any hardship this may cause, but the situation is not permanent and when it is complete we will have a completely resurfaced main corridor through the village.

Thank you,
Mayor Serrago
