Public Hearings: April 24th

On Wednesday, April 24th, the Village of Athens Board of Trustees will hear public comment on three proposed laws.

The first is a local law to override the tax levy limit established in general municipal law Section 3-c. This is done annually during budget prep season.

The second is an amendment to our current law governing regulation of short term rentals in the Village. This law proposes that fire inspections be conducted at STRs annually and that any unpaid fees or fines related to the operation of an STR may be added to the homeowner’s tax bill following a hearing and determination of such by the Village Board.

The third hearing is on the tentative budget.

You can review the STR amendment and the tentative budget by going to the Village Code page of this website. You may submit written comments via the form on that page or directly to the village clerk via email. Comments will not be accepted on this post. Comments submitted after 3pm the day of the hearing may not be received in time for inclusion at the hearing.
