Why are we walking? Because everyone in Athens — kids heading to school, parents with
strollers, neighbors with mobility challenges — deserves sidewalks that are safe and accessible. Right now, some of ours aren’t. There are trip hazards, missing segments, and spots that are hard for anyone to navigate.
So we’re documenting it, block by block. What we find feeds directly into the village’s grant
applications for sidewalk repairs — this walk genuinely shapes what gets fixed.
Join us for the Complete Streets Safety Walk: Saturday, October 31, 9:00–11:00 AM, meeting at Second & Franklin. We’ll split into small teams and walk the heart of our Historic District. Your eyes and your phone camera are all you need — no experience required.
Wear comfortable shoes and bring a friend. Please RSVP either by email here or through the Village Clerk’s Office so we can plan the teams; walk-ins are welcome too. See you there!
