I’m happy to announce that we’re planning to submit an application for the NY Forward grant program again this year. This program is a downtown revitalization effort for smaller communities like ours that could potentially bring $4.5M of funding to Athens’ businesses, non-profits and municipal projects such as sidewalk upgrades, riverfront park improvements and Community Building renovations.
You can learn more about this effort and our upcoming Local Waterfront Revitalization Program work at RevitalizeAthensNY.com. There you will find program information, important meeting dates, a community input survey and a “call for projects” to propose in our funding application.
Our first community input meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18th at 6pm in the Community Building. We will hold a second meeting on October 7th as well.
